FAQs

  • We are out of network with all insurance providers and we can give you a detailed receipt that you can submit back to your insurance provider for direct reimbursement. We also keep our office visits comparable to what your copay for a specialist is.

We intentionally choose to opt out of accepting insurance as insurance companies dictate the care you receive based on your coverage and sometimes they even hire third parties who have never met you or know anything about your case to determine how you should be treated. We work for you, not the insurance companies and we give you the care that you need so you can get the best results as quickly and effectively as possible.

We do not work with Medicare in any capacity, including supplemental insurance plans or out of network benefits.

  • Our goal is NOT to have you in the office all the time! If you are coming into the office with a specific structural imbalance, it is our job to recommend and provide you the most effective care, while still meeting you where you’re at with your availability and resources. If you are in a pain cycle or have an acute issue that needs immediate attention, we start you off with the necessarily corrective care. In order for a sustainable change to happen, this takes time and consistency.

Once you’re out of the pain cycle or we both see the physical and neurological improvements happening, you get to graduate from the corrective care to wellness maintenance. Yay! We believe that chiropractic care is just like any other wellness self-care practices that you have, which are necessary to be consistent, in whatever frequency works for you, in order for you to continue in your optimal state.

  • Chiropractic care is incredibly diverse, we are not limited to just treating pain!

Through chiropractic care, we work directly with the nervous system. This is THE most important aspect of our practice.

The autonomic nervous system is responsible for all of our body’s processes that happen without us having to think about it. This includes both physical and emotional processes. When the nervous system is disregulated, or out of balance, the body is not able to perform its physical duties properly or cultivate safety and emotional regulation.

When we are not emotionally regulated, this presents as: high stress levels, constantly scanning your environment for danger, heightened anxiety, the inability to process life events and feeling very low, stuck, disconnected and unresourceful.

As holistic doctors, we know how deeply connected the body and mind, the physical and emotional, are. By working with you physically, through chiropractic care, this allows for us to also work with you emotionally, at the level of the nervous system.

  • Something we share with all of our patients is that after an adjustment, especially your first or after you haven’t been adjusted in a while, you could experience 3 different things:

    1. You feel better

    2. You feel no change

    3. You temporarily feel worse

Each of these are totally normal. Remember, your body is very intelligent and knows how to heal itself when given the proper environment, AND, when it’s spent a long time not having the proper environment or tools, it takes some time to acclimate to this new input that it’s receiving. Often times, the body is having to unlearn long term patterns.

If you’re still experiencing pain or have a flare up, know that this is a part of your body’s healing process and, if it continues on, we can change how we’re adjusting you and/or begin to utilize some other modalities that we practice.

  • Webster Certification is additional training taught to chiropractors to properly assess and treat someone who is pregnant. In a nutshell, we pay special attention to the areas that change most and have the most stress on them as you are pregnant.

The Webster Technique evaluates the sacrum and it's alignment within the pelvis, center of where all your baby growing magic happens. This technique is designed to bring relief and keep these areas properly balanced so that mom and baby can have a more comfortable pregnancy, labor and delivery.

  • Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP) is a technique used to address structural weakness and improve it. By receiving corrective chiropractic care, some patients are able to avoid surgeries and receive longer lasting results than other forms of treatments.

Dr. Johanna is one of few in the Tampa Bay area who, faithfully, keeps her CBP certification up to date.

You can learn more about CBP here.

  • Yes! This is something often overlooked, or not even considered so we want to address it. The #1 therapeutic element of chiropractic care is that it works directly with your nervous system.

If you have a pinched nerve or herniated disc, this is something a chiropractor can most effectively help with, by getting to the root cause rather than band-aiding the symptom.

  • An Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractor adjusts ONLY the upper cervical spine with the assistance of an atlas orthogonal instrument.

While we can and do adjust your Atlas (the C1, top cervical bone in your neck), we do not limit our adjustments to just this area. Within our practice we adjust the full spine for numerous health benefits and effective postural healing.

  • Of course! While we do have special trainings in several areas including women's and pediatric health, we are also trained in other areas that provide a high standard of care to anyone interested in chiropractic care. Our mission is to provide holistic care to the whole family, which means we see everyone!

Let us help you find the care that's right for you.
